Auyuittuq Gear List

Mike Kearns' Auyuittuq gear list for his hike across Akshayuk Pass, in Auyuittuq National Park in the Canadian Arctic is definitely NOT a study in ultralight backpacking. However, his trip was so special that I just had to share it with you.

FOOD ...dehydrated everything.. Fruit, beef, chicken, lots of vegetables.. corn yellow beans, peas, beets, carrots, potatoes, turnip and rice and pasta. Spice kit, powered shortening, powdered milk, lots of M&Ms, raisins and cashews. Oatmeal,sugar and powdered eggs, juice crystals and energy gels and coffee to start the day.Seal blubber to be picked up locally, high in fat and omega oils and does not taste too bad at all. Must be kept in an odor proof bag.

Need about 3000 to 3500 calories per day for trips like this. 16 pounds. 7167g
